According to Anani, companies need to have a clear strategy stressing that without a clear and comprehensive strategy, companies can never survive

AMMAN----- April 10, 2014 ------ The Family Business Governance Centre, the platform to set, develop and promote the standards of family businesses, hosted HE Senator Jawad Anani in a seminar on the Future of Family Businesses held at Talal Abu- Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum.

According to Anani, companies need to have a clear strategy stressing that without a clear and comprehensive strategy, companies can never survive.

"We can see this in many cases around the world that is why hiring the best qualified persons should be a key in the survival of family businesses," he added.

Dr. Anani focused on the need to have a clear succession system to handle the administration and management issues of the family business.

"So far we don’t have one (succession system) and lack of such a system exposes any business to discontinuation due to having the wrong family member in the wrong position, head of the business dealing with simple administrative issues and favoritism in addition to other concerns," he added.

Dr. Anani, however, stated that despite all family businesses are considered the backbone of Jordan's economy and there is no doubt the future is brighter for them.

Meanwhile, Family Business Governance Centre President Mr. Luay Abu-Ghazaleh announced that the Centre is planning to have a strong presence in other countries.

Audience reacted to Anani's economic points of view by expressing their ideas from their own experiences.
