"Children Programmers" Graduation Ceremony Held under the Patronage of Abu-Ghazaleh

AMMAN --- August 27, 2015 ---Under the patronage of HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, a graduation ceremony was held for "Children Programmers" who participated in “Hello World Kids" program- the first program of its kind in the region that aims at educating children aged 8-12 years old to program computers and smartphones.

A total of 65 children graduated from 12 courses and from several levels.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh thanked Mrs. Hanan Khader, executive director and founder of the Program, for all efforts put into this program to meet needs of our world today, as current teaching methods and schools are ineffective to cope with these needs, pointing out that the era of indoctrination has ended up and the role of the teacher now is more of a technical mentor who explains to the students how to access information and solve a problem.

He underlined the fact that the mother is the basic driver for change because the education process starts early at home, and endeavors are currently underway to unleash the power for introducing educational change in Jordan with the support of a team of women taking into account that mothers are the strongest and most influential element capable to change the future of education.

He addressed the children in his speech, by saying “the responsibility of reinstating Arabs back as leaders of the world is your responsibility because Arabs are not only the origin of civilization but also the founders of science and knowledge,” pointing out that the Arab nation cannot be exterminated in spite of all attempts.

Ms. Khader, thanked Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh for patronizing the ceremony, considering him an inspiration for everybody and noting that chapters of his success story are always told and form important part of the program; she also thanked the parents of the children who enormously contributed to the success of the program by giving children the opportunity to think outside the box and translate their ideas into reality.

She indicated that we at "Hello World Kids" Foundation do not only teach the children, but also we learn from them and we know that they have very high potentials and  capabilities far more than we could imagine, and sometimes we may doubt their capacities, but they always prove the opposite.

She pointed out that a gap exists between training methods used in schools and the technical reality and children capabilities, noting that their organization is seeking to close this gap so as to create a generation capable within a period of ten years to record success stories that offer service and knowledge not only to Jordan but to the whole world.

During the ceremony, students presented their programming projects which included the creation and development of websites and games. Moreover, a discussion session was also organized in which Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh, Ms. Khader and Mr. Michel Wakileh, the owner of the Jordanian programming company "Progress Soft" participated in addition to two children. The session discussed the impact of disseminating the program’s idea in teaching programming to children from different regions across the Kingdom and its impact on Jordan in the future, calling on corporations to adopt children’s ideas that are productive and useful.

In "Hello World Kids" program, the child learns how the computer thinks, how man can give orders to smart devices and how they comply, which will open new horizons of endless possibilities to the children.

The program consists of several training levels ranging from beginners’ level until the child masters different types of programming; it includes components that teach children how to program computer applications, web-programming and applications of smart devices in addition to learning leadership principles.
